Delivery

• Within Japan we choose the carrier — Yamato, Sagawa or another — from the size and weight of the item. Parts sold through the cart ship at a flat rate: ¥1,000 to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu, ¥1,500 to Hokkaido, ¥1,800 to Okinawa, tax included.
• Outside Japan we ship by EMS, DHL or a logistics partner. Small parts sold through the cart ship at a flat rate by region: Asia; North America, Europe, Oceania and the Middle East; South America and Africa. Large parts are quoted individually from package size, weight and destination.
• For large parts and parts with individual shipping, we send payment instructions once the shipping cost is settled.
• We email the carrier name and tracking number after dispatch.

Payment

• All prices and payments are in Japanese yen.
• Payment instructions issued after a shipping quote are valid for 7 days.
• Credit card: an order not paid within that period is cancelled automatically.
• Bank transfer: nothing is cancelled automatically. If we cannot confirm your payment we will contact you, and may cancel the order after that. Transfer fees are yours to pay.
• If you want to order again after a cancellation, we will re-check the shipping and send fresh instructions.
• For orders shipped outside Japan, customs duties, import taxes and clearance fees charged by the destination country are yours to pay. The amount is set by that country’s rules for the item, so we cannot tell you in advance what it will be.
• Orders shipped outside Japan are zero-rated for export, so you are charged the product page price less Japanese consumption tax.
• If duties are refused and the parcel is returned to us, the outbound and return shipping plus any storage costs are yours to pay. We refund the price of the goods less those costs.

Cancellation

These cannot be cancelled once ordered:

• Special-order parts
• Made-to-order parts
• FRP aero parts, including unpainted stock

Anything else can be cancelled up until dispatch, with no cancellation fee. We cannot cancel an order after it has shipped.

Returns and exchanges

What we accept

• You received a different item from the one you ordered
• The item was damaged in transit
• The item is faulty

In all three cases, email info@novel-japan.jp within 7 days of delivery with photos showing the problem. Once we have checked it we will arrange an exchange or a refund, and we pay the shipping.

For orders shipped outside Japan: we decide whether the item needs to come back. If we ask you to return it, we choose the carrier and cover the return shipping. International returns are expensive, so depending on the case we may issue an exchange or a refund without asking for the item back. If you send something back without contacting us first, we may be unable to cover the shipping or to confirm that the item reached us.

What we cannot accept

• Returns because you changed your mind — the part looks different from what you pictured, it does not suit your car, you ordered the wrong thing — cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
• Special-order parts, made-to-order parts and FRP aero parts
• Contact made more than 7 days after delivery
• Items that have been painted, modified or fitted
• Items scratched, soiled or damaged while in your care
• Items returned to us because duties were refused, because nobody was there to receive them over a long period, or because the address was wrong

A note on FRP and unpainted parts

FRP aero parts are sold unpainted. By the nature of the material they are made on the assumption that you will test-fit them before painting, and adjust or work them where needed. We cannot accept a return or exchange for a problem found after painting or fitting a part that was not test-fitted first.

Fitment

Please check the fitment information on the product page before ordering. Parts that need a fitment check, such as ECU products, become available to buy after you send us your vehicle details and we confirm compatibility. Depending on your car’s specification or previous modifications, we may not be able to supply the part.

How refunds are made

As a rule we refund to the method you paid with. We start the refund within 10 business days of checking the returned item. For card payments, the date the money actually appears depends on your card issuer’s billing cycle.

Bank transfer fees for refunds sent outside Japan are yours to pay.

Customs duties, import taxes and clearance fees you paid on import cannot be refunded. That money never reaches us — it goes to the customs authority and the carrier in the destination country. Whether any of it can be reclaimed depends on the rules of that country, and you would need to pursue it yourself.
